Healthy at The Melting Pot?

Tonight, Marc and I are celebrating our 4 year anniversary one night early with a trip to The Melting Pot. I've never been, but Marc's been trying to get me there for almost a year now. We have a gift certificate that will be going stale soon and this seemed like a great time to try it.

Well, except that today I start trying to keep up with my calories and eat well for stage 2....

So far today, I have about 1000 calories to "spend" on dinner, which I think I can come close to. After consulting some internet resources ( "How to Eat Healthy at the Melting Pot", "The Best Diet-Friendly Choices at the Melting Pot" and Roni's blog post about her pending MP trip) and the restaurant's online menu, I've developed a plan of attack.
  1. Start with the Swiss Cheese fondue for the cheese course - only eat the veggies for dippers. If Marc really wants another type of cheese, I'll make sure I only eat 2 or 3 dipped veggies and will fill up on veggies & apples without cheese.
  2. Either the Spinach Mushroom or the California Salad with the Vinaigrette dressings.
  3. A few options for the entree, depending on what Marc wants - Shrimp & Steak (I get the shrimp!), Land & Sea (I get the shrimp and some chicken), Seafood Trio or Breast of Chicken.
  4. Cooking style will be any except the Bourguignonne. I don't think I want the Mojo either because we're going to the Cuban/Caribbean food place tomorrow and we can get our fill there.
  5. EITHER a chocolate fondue (only eat strawberries, bananas and maybe a marshmello) or an Irish coffee (no whipped cream) or some wine with the meal.
It's number 5 that will put me over the calories for the day, but I don't feel too bad because, contrary to all possible expectation, I did go on my run! I didn't do it this morning (actually fell asleep for an hour before I had to get up), but Bailey and I ran this afternoon.
